The Schools' Vision Mission

Nha Trang University was established on August 1, 1959, under the name of the Fisheries Faculty inside the Hanoi Institute of Agriculture and Forestry. The educational institution had many name changes throughout a span of 47 years. Since its establishment on July 25, 2006, the educational institution has been officially recognized as "Nha Trang University" and is often referred to as NTU. Located by the sea, the university has a great view and is equipped with benches and areas to study near the sea. The relaxing view that we see is indeed inspiring and also makes us want to sit there and study.

The primary objectives of the university are conducting research, providing education and training to individuals with advanced skills, and disseminating information across several fields of study. The institution places particular emphasis on enhancing its expertise in marine and fisheries science and technology with different artifacts being displayed.

Regarding the principles upheld by the institution, a selection of five fundamental characteristics has been identified as core values: pioneering, unity, integration, dynamism, and responsibility.

Pioneering: Pioneering in education refers to the willingness to explore new ideas, methods, and approaches to teaching and learning. It encourages educators and students to be innovative, to think outside the box, and to be open to change. Pioneering educators may introduce new teaching techniques or curriculum enhancements, while pioneering students may seek out novel solutions to academic challenges.

Unity: Unity emphasizes the importance of collaboration, cooperation, and a sense of togetherness within the educational community. It encourages students and educators to work together harmoniously, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Unity also implies a shared sense of purpose and common goals among all stakeholders in education.

Integration: Integration signifies the blending or combining of different elements or disciplines within the educational process. It encourages a holistic approach to education, where diverse subjects, perspectives, and experiences are interconnected and woven together. This can lead to a more comprehensive understanding of complex issues and the development of interdisciplinary skills.

Dynamism: Dynamism in education refers to a commitment to adaptability and responsiveness in the face of changing circumstances. It encourages both educators and students to stay flexible, embrace new challenges, and adjust their approaches as needed. Educational institutions that value dynamism are more likely to evolve with the times, staying relevant and effective in a rapidly changing world.

Responsibility: Responsibility emphasizes the ethical and moral aspects of education. It encourages individuals to take ownership of their actions and decisions and their impact on the learning community and society as a whole. Responsible educators prioritize the well-being and growth of their students, while responsible students take their studies seriously and show consideration for their peers and the broader community.

All of these values are supported by the institution. The institution is guided by these key beliefs in its quest for excellence and innovation. The university endeavors to maintain a leading position in pioneering research and discoveries, consistently pushing the limits and investigating novel domains. Additionally, the institution fosters a sense of cohesion and teamwork among its instructors, staff, and students by encouraging collaboration and cooperation.

During the school visit, we could feel their dynamisim in guiding us throughout the school fied. Though it is a "huge" campus, all of the faculty members and students greeted us with bright smiles on their faces.

The activities that we experienced at the school, the workshop session and the micro-teaching activity also helped us to understand why they use responsibility and unity in their vision mission. The teachers at the university helped us a lot when we contacted them, providing us with all the things we need, from the lesson plans to the characteristics of the students, and even an offer to stay at their hotel. It showed us how they are responsible towards the mission they take, together with the sense of collaboration that they have, not only in the community, but also to people from other places.

Thai Binh Duong University (TBDU) was founded on December 31, 2008, marking the culmination of its establishment process. The educational institution offers a nurturing and intellectually engaging atmosphere for students, fostering the cultivation of self-sufficiency in their personal and professional aspirations and facilitating their transformation into enthusiastic, adaptive, and conscientious contributors to the progress and long-term viability of Vietnam. At TBD, the implementation of liberal education is achieved by five commitments, all of which start with the letter 'T' in Vietnamese. As a result, it is called the 5Ts model, which comprises of life-based learning (thực học), comprehensive learning (Toàn diện), meaningful interaction (Tương tác), empowerment (Trao quyền), empathy (thấu cảm). In terms of the core values, the faculty and students at TBD are dedicated to pursuing the following core values: Integrity, Academic freedom, Diversity, Responsibility, Innovation, and Harmony. The core values of in education represent a set of guiding principles that underpin the philosophy and culture of educational institutions. These values provide a framework for fostering a positive and effective learning environment. Let's delve into each of these core values:

Integrity: Integrity in education emphasizes honesty, ethical conduct, and a commitment to upholding high moral and academic standards. It encourages students and educators to demonstrate honesty in their work, research, and interactions. Academic integrity also involves avoiding plagiarism and cheating, which are fundamental to maintaining the credibility and integrity of the educational process.

Academic Freedom: Academic freedom is the principle that individuals within the educational community—both students and educators—have the right to pursue knowledge, research, and scholarship without undue interference or censorship. It fosters an environment where diverse ideas and viewpoints can be explored and discussed freely, promoting intellectual growth and creativity.

Respect for Differences: Respect for differences encompasses recognizing and valuing diversity in all its forms, including cultural, ethnic, religious, and ideological diversity. It encourages an atmosphere of tolerance, inclusivity, and mutual respect among students, faculty, and staff. This value promotes understanding and acceptance of various perspectives and backgrounds.

Responsibility: Responsibility in education relates to the duty and accountability of both educators and students. Educators have a responsibility to provide quality instruction and mentorship, while students have a responsibility to actively engage in their learning, meet academic requirements, and contribute positively to the educational community. Responsibility also extends to ethical behavior and social responsibility.

Innovation: Innovation in education encourages the adoption of creative and forward-thinking approaches to teaching, learning, and problem-solving. It acknowledges the evolving nature of education and the importance of adapting to technological advancements and changing societal needs. Innovative practices can enhance the educational experience and better prepare students for the challenges of the modern world.

Harmonious: Harmonious reflects the desire for a peaceful and cooperative atmosphere within the educational community. It promotes the idea that students and educators should work together collaboratively, fostering a sense of unity and well-being. A harmonious environment encourages positive interactions, reduces conflicts, and enhances the overall learning experience.

During the school visit to TBDU, we have had the chance to talk and listen to the faculty members there about how the faculty is organizing their programs. The school has provided different chances, from scholarships to conferences and seminars, which engage researchers from all over Vietnam to come to their school and pursue their preferred field of research. Not only is innovation shown through the way they teach, but also by the way they treat their students and guests. They consider everyone their potential customers, which is an innovative thought in the modern education. One of the things that impresses us when we came to the school was the huge school campus that we didn't have the chance to visit it all. According to the professors at TBDU, the school campus also includes a dorm for researchers and guests coming to the school for academic activities. This shows how the school is enacting their harmonious. The green trees surrounding the buildings and the big lake right at the entrance is also showcasing how they want to encorporate natural environment into their school activities.

These core values serve as a moral compass and a foundation for decision-making within educational institutions. When embraced by both students and educators, they contribute to the development of responsible, ethical, and well-rounded individuals. Moreover, these values create an inclusive and intellectually stimulating environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and the pursuit of knowledge. They also help prepare students to become informed, engaged, and socially responsible citizens who can contribute positively to their communities and society at large.
